With the support of my family, I opened Mind Chimes Bookshop in the fall of 2019.  This was a natural extension of my life-long love of reading and creative writing, and of my desire to bring a bookstore back to our northern Wisconsin communities.  I feel strongly that bookstores and libraries are essential in small communities; they serve as portals through which residents can be informed and inspired by the intellect, imagination, and experience of others in the world.  I am thrilled to be developing Mind Chimes Bookshop during a resurgence of independent bookstores in our country.  I have already learned much from other bookstores regionally and nationally, and plan to stay involved with those associations in order to develop Mind Chimes to its maximum potential.  Professionally, opening a bookstore has represented a significant change in my life.  My first career choice and formal training was in pediatric medicine.  I’ve worked as a private-practice pediatrician and teacher of anatomy and physiology.  I’ve also spent many years independently studying nutrition and prevention of chronic health disorders.  I look forward to including reputable books on health in our collection.

Thank you for your interest in Mind Chimes Bookshop.  I’m grateful to be developing the bookshop in Three Lakes, and I look forward to meeting you.

Take care,

Laura
