Laura’s Story
With the support of my family, I opened Mind Chimes Bookshop in the fall of 2019. This was a natural extension of my life-long love of reading and creative writing, and of my desire to bring a bookstore back to our northern Wisconsin communities. I feel strongly that bookstores and libraries are essential in small communities; they serve as portals through which residents can be informed and inspired by the intellect, imagination, and experience of others in the world. I am thrilled to be developing Mind Chimes Bookshop during a resurgence of independent bookstores in our country. I have already learned much from other bookstores regionally and nationally, and plan to stay involved with those associations in order to develop Mind Chimes to its maximum potential. Professionally, opening a bookstore has represented a significant change in my life. My first career choice and formal training was in pediatric medicine. I’ve worked as a private-practice pediatrician and teacher of anatomy and physiology. I’ve also spent many years independently studying nutrition and prevention of chronic health disorders. I look forward to developing a strong selection of books on health and wellness, and will be glad to make a recommendation.
Thank you for your interest in Mind Chimes Bookshop. I’m grateful to be developing the bookshop in Three Lakes, and I welcome your input.
Take care,
Laura
